Kaiser Wilhelm Museum

The “Kaiser Wilhelm Museum” should be made attractive again after the reopening in 2015 and increase the number of visitors significantly. The main problem is that permanent exhibitions are not visited enough.
The “KWM” has about 10,000 visitors a year. That is about 30 visitors per day. For comparison, the Museum Ludwig has 344,000 visitors.
And one important point is, that the three museums “Kaiser Wilhelm Museum”, “Haus Lange” and “Haus Ester” have to be seen as a unit.

Preliminary considerations

We are creating a place for civil activities. Participation is currently a large and important topic. The citizens want to decide about many things. Nowadays there is no public place for the discussions. The discussions mainly will take place in the internet and mostly the implementation is missing. There are no results. So with a forum, the discussions would be relocated from the internet to a public place and obtain results.

The art as witness of the time should be used to learn and help to create the present and future.

Idea

  • Citizens can discuss there and have the chance to change the future

There will be three large main categories:

  • Cultural issues
  • Social issues
  • Exhibitions (the people can decided about temporary exhibitions)

Solution

The "Kaiser Wilhelm Museum" will be renamed in "Forum Wilhelm" to highlight the thoughts of the forum. "Haus Lange" and "Haus Esters" are renamed as well and are now called "Forum Lange" and "Forum Esters".

Logo

The logos are the silhouette of each building. In addition, each building has an entrance, which is symbolized by a bar with a gap.
The three bars of each logo combine the "Kunstforen Krefeld" logo. This logo looks like a bar chart and symbolizes the thoughts of the forum.
The logo "Forum Wilhelm" has an 'X' inside the 'O' of the word ”Forum”. This expresses that here is the place where the main vote takes place.

Campaign

The campaign idea provokes the viewer at first. When you look closer you will see that the words "bitch" and "asshole" are rather a form of discussion between both posters.
In the example one of the posters agrees with street prostitutes and the other does not. Among the motiv there is a card where the person and his opinion is explained in detail. Thus, the provoke facade dissolves.

Bitch: Thorsten Petersen, Krefeld-Linn, feels harassed by the street prostitutes on the „Neuen Ritterstraße“ and defends himself against prostitution in his neighbourhood. (first poster)

Asshole: Larissa Kleingut, Krefeld-Oppum, is the Director of Women's Aid, and contact person for prostitutes. She committed the preservation of the street prostitutes on the „Neuen Ritterstraße“ in Krefeld. (second poster).

This site is a one-pager, so all content is reached via scrolling. All main points, the online forum, current events, exhibitions overview and the forums themselves are presented and linked here.

On this page all the information about the forums and other exciting news are presented. For example, it has a timeline and an exhibition overview, because art should be available for all people. In addition, you can display the calendar for discussions and events.

Online Forum

In the Online Forum, you can post new topics and vote on already existing topics. Issues with many supporters will be discussed in the real forum. In the online forum, there is no possibility for discussions, because people have to talk in the forum to get good solutions for there problems.

Of course, people can also vote with ballot paper.

Other measures

Local digital terminals and social networks are prepared for people who are interested.
In addition, there will be one empty room at the opening of the forum in which the visitors will only see a note with the slogan 'Your opinion could be displayed here!' on it.

Of course, shirts with the own opinion should not be missed. Every visitor can print this own shirt in the forum.
